ESTABLISHING THE SEXUAL ABUSE POLICY OF THE EPARCHY OF OUR LADY OF NAREG; AND DETERMINING THE MANNER OF PROMULGATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Particular Law established by the Apostolic See for the Diocese and Eparchies of the United States of America, each such Diocese or Eparchy is mandated to establish a policy on the problem of sexual abuse of minors; and

WHEREAS, we have caused a committee of qualified persons to draft such a policy for the Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg; and
WHEREAS, said committee has completed its work and has submitted to us a draft of such a policy for our review and action; and

WHEREAS, we have carefully examined the proposed policy as submitted by the committee and find it to be well-drafted, comprehensive, consonant with the applicable provisions of Canon Law; and fair and equitable to all concerned; and it is our judgment that said policy should be enacted as the Particular Law of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg in and for such cases;

Now, THEREFORE, BY VIRTUE OF THE PROVISIONS OF CANON 191, ET AL. OF THE CODEX CANONUM ECCLESIARUM ORIENTALIUM, WE HEREBY DECREE AS FOLLOWS:

I.That the Policy on Sexual Abuse of Minors By Priests or Deacons, together with the Supplemental Policy on Sexual Abuse of Minors By Seminarians, Religious, Eparchial Employees or Regular Volunteers, according to the written text thereof consisting of seven (7) printed pages appended hereto, marked “Exhibit A”and incorporated herein by reference as if fully set forth at length in this decree, be and the same are hereby ENACTED, ADOPTED and ESTABLISHED as the Particular Law of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg for the Armenian Catholics in The United States and Canada; and we hereby PROMULGATE the same.

2. That the said policy shall obtain the force of law on and from the eighth (8th) day of September, 2013, the Feast of Nativity of the Virgin Mary.

3. That the text of this decree and the policy enacted hereby be published as soon as possible on the Website of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg at www.armeniancatholic.org

GIVEN at Glendale, California, at the Chancery of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg, this Twenty-Fifth (25th) day of August in the Year of Our Lord the Two Thousand Thirteen (Anno Domini MMXIII).
