Most Reverend Mikael Mouradian was born in Beirut, Lebanon on July4th, 1961 to parents Sarkis and Therese Mouradian. After receiving his Primary education at the Armenian Sisters academy in Zahle (Lebanon), he was first admitted to the seminary of the Patriarchal Clergy of Bzommar in 1973 then to the Pontifical Armenian College of
Rome in 1981, attending the “Angelicum” Pontifical University of Dominican Fathers and graduated by the theological and philosophical licenses in 1986. He specialized in the youth pastoral at “Institut Catholique” of Lyon, France in 1987.
He was ordained a priest on October 24, 1987, in Paris, by His Excellency Bishop Krikor Ghabroyan, as a member of the Institute of the Patriarchal Clergy of Bzommar. After his ordination, Fr. Mikael fulfilled the following missions:
• 1987-1988 Assistant rector of the seminary of Bzommar (Lebanon).
• 1988-1989 Assistant rector of the seminary of Aleppo (Syria).
• 1990 Pastor of the Armenian Catholic church of Our Lady of the Universe in Damascus (Syria). • 1991 Assistant pastor of the Holy Cross parish in Zalka (Lebanon)
• 1992-2001 Pastor of various Catholic communities in the Northern provinces of Armenia.
• 1995-2001 Secretary General and Executive Director of Caritas Armenia (Catholic Charities).
• In 2000 he was granted the title of Honorary Professor of the Mikael Nalbandian’s Pedagogical University
of Armenia by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
• 2001-2005 Returning to Lebanon, Fr. Mouradian was appointed pastor of Our Lady of Annunciation parish in Beirut, Lebanon, Spiritual Director of the seminary of Bzommar and Chaplain of the Armenian Catholic youth organization. He collaborated at the same time to the redaction of the Patriarchate’s official review.
• On July 26, 2007, the General Assembly of the Institute of the Patriarchal Clergy of Bzommar elected him as the Patriarchal Vicar of the same Institute and Superior of the Monastery of Our Lady of Bzommar
• On May 20, 2011 His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI nominated His Excellency as the fourth Bishop of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg for the Armenian Catholic communities in the United States and Canada.
• On July 31, 2011, Bishop Mouradian was ordained by His Beatitude Patriarch Nerses Peter XIX, in the Monastery of Our Lady of Nareg (Lebanon). His Canonical Installation as Bishop of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg took place on October 2nd, 2011 in Brooklyn-New York.
• He currently is a member and the Secretary of the Armenian Catholic Synod of Bishops. He serves as Co- chair of the Armenian American Museum and as member of the Armenian Genocide Committee (AGC).
